Costa Coffee - Private Sharman
During World War One, this shop was run by W.C. Embry as a grocery shop, Embry’s Central Stores.
Private Ernest Walter Sharman was apprenticed to Mr Embry after leaving Wells Blue School and before he went to New Zealand, where he joined the New Zealand Medical Corps. His parents lived at 4, Railway Buildings, in Wells. Ernestwas “killed instantly by a shell” in Belgium in January 1918.He was 27.
