The White Hart Hotel - Bombardier Hatcher

Frederick Hatcher was employed by Mr Silcox of the White Hart Hotel when war broke out.

He took part with the Royal Horse Artillery in the battles of Mons, Le Cateau, Marne, Aisne, Ypres, Neuve Chappelle, Fromelle and the Somme. Bombardier Hatcher died from pneumonia in November 1918. He was 34 years of age.

“He left no message as he was unconscious for some time before he died and he passed away quite peacefully. He was buried with full military honours in the cemetery at Le Havre” (Wells Journal).
